Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed his gratitude to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian for his intention to assist in resolving relations with India during a phone conversation on April 27, reports the Dawn agency.
During the conversation, the head of the Pakistani government reaffirmed the official invitation for the Iranian leader to visit Islamabad. He emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to participate in an open and unbiased investigation into the terrorist attack in Kashmir.
Prime Minister Sharif also stated that using the waters of the Indus River as a means of pressure on Pakistan is unacceptable and highlighted Pakistan’s determination to defend itself by any means necessary.
In response, the President of Iran thanked Sharif for his intention to support Iran in investigating the recent explosion at Iran’s Shahid Rajaee Port, which claimed nearly 30 lives.
On April 22, a terrorist attack occurred in the Indian part of Kashmir, where militants shot and killed 26 tourists. The incident sharply escalated tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly concerning India’s suspension of the water agreement related to the Indus River.
On April 27, it was reported that India had blocked all four dams that discharge Indus water toward Pakistan. Earlier, Pakistan had warned that it would view such actions as an act of war.
