Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board proposes creation of additional scientific and industrial units

Aide to the President of Russia and Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board Nikolay Patrushev, proposed the idea of creating additional scientific and industrial units in the shipbuilding industry. He made this suggestion on April 21 in an interview with Kommersant.

Discussing the issue of scientific and engineering specialists shortages in shipbuilding, Patrushev noted that the prestige of the shipbuilder profession has been successfully revived, but the shortage of skilled workers still persists.

“A modern worker must be able to handle not just a wrench, but also highly complex equipment in computerized digital production,” the Chairman said.

However, students from specialized educational institutions, which Patrushev has visited, are eagerly mastering their profession. He added that much is being done to create a modern educational base: scientific and industrial laboratories and advanced simulators are being introduced to train professionals of international level.

The Chairman of the Russian Maritime Board pointed out that the experience of industry-specific scientific and industrial units in the shipbuilding sector has shown excellent results. In these units, young people with the necessary knowledge and experience serve at the enterprises where they previously worked. Such units already exist at facilities in Arkhangelsk, Kaliningrad, and Saint Petersburg. Patrushev believes it is feasible to create additional scientific units within the shipbuilding industry.
