Russian Foreign Ministry: West decides to turn Moldova into “second Ukraine”

09.06.2023, Moscow.

The collective West wants to turn Moldova into a “second Ukraine,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said on June 9.

On the eve of the event, President Maia Sandu said that the Moldovan government would no longer allow Russia to humiliate it. Sandu promised that in two years, the country would enter the same energy space as Romania and would no longer depend on electricity supplies from Transnistria.

Sandu said that the power plant there belongs to Russia, more specifically, to Inter RAO.

At the same time, according to a poll published on the same day, only one-third of Moldovans supported the initiative to leave the Commonwealth of Independent States, while the majority, 52.6% of the population, were against it.
