Russia and China will continue to expand military cooperation, said Army General Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia, during talks with Colonel General Liu Zhengli, Chief of the Joint Staff of China’s Central Military Commission, on June 9 via video-conferencing.
According to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, the appointment of Colonel General Liu Zhengli to the post of chief of the Joint Staff of the Central Military Commission of China will contribute to cooperation between the two countries.
“I am convinced that your great experience will contribute both to the development of the Chines Armed Forces and to the expansion of military cooperation between our countries,” Gerasimov said.
The head of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces congratulated Liu Zhengli on his appointment in March 2023, wishing “success in his responsible post in protecting the homeland, strengthening its defense capabilities, and further modernizing the People’s Liberation Army of China.”
