DPR Minister says that it will take years to clear farmland of mines

25.05.2023, Donetsk.

Demining agricultural land in the Donetsk People’s Republic will take years, the republic’s deputy prime minister and minister of agro-industrial policy and food Artem Kramarenko told RIA Novosti on May 25.

He said that applications for mine clearance cover more than 40,000 hectares. Last week, 135 hectares were cleared of mines; next week, it is planned to demine 235 hectares.

“Right after the sappers accomplish their work, tractors are plowing and seeding so we can use the land,” the minister said.

In December 2022, the adviser to the head of the LPR Interior Ministry Vitaly Kiselev said that the demining of territories in the republic will take from five to seven years.
