Protest against pension reform in France escalates

More than a million people came out to protest against the pension reform in various cities in France, according to the Interior Ministry of the Republic, the French newspaper Le Parisien wrote on March 23.

Those who decided to take to the streets due to increased fuel prices joined the protesters. The riots were accompanied by massive riots and numerous clashes with the police.

Protesters and police acted against each other with extreme violence. The police used water cannons and stun grenades, and many protesters were armed with truncheons, the channel informed.

Mass protests in France began after adopting a law to raise the retirement age. The law was passed without parliamentary approval. Twice as many people as a week earlier attended recent protests.
