Because of the optimization of the defense industry aimed at adapting it for the integration into the West we now have to use shady schemes to import lacking components for our arms, said political scientist, philosopher and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan in an interview to Vyacheslav Manucharov published on March `13 in the YouTube channel of the program Manuchi’s Empathy.
The political scientist reminded about a recent period when the Russian elite was confident that it could become part of the West. Then, according to Kurginyan, everything was “optimized for certain pattern of existence.”
“We tried to align ourselves to the standards of a country like one of theirs. We live the way they live [in the West], and we follow them in everything,” Kurginyan explained.
In that period, a discussion about integration into the global division of labor was taking place in Russia. The Russian elite, according to the analyst, believed, “Well, we produce gas or something else, and we buy other things. Everyone buys them! Are we really going to get back into this stupid autarchy and become self-sufficient as we used to be in the Soviet Union? This is impossible and unnecessary.”
Kurginyan reminded how, back in the Soviet period, it took great effort for GRU operatives to import a Cray super-computer, which was cutting-edge those days.
“It was installed, all the information was imported in it, and it immediately shot it to a US satellite. Because nobody is fool. The same applies to any military equipment. Therefore, all those talks about how we would use the global division of labor actually ended with nothing,” he stressed.
Kurginyan noted that the attempt to integrate into the global division of labor resulted in severe consequences for our defense industry.
“It is not a secret that some of our brilliant military solutions contain no domestically made electronic components, but only Japanese or American ones,” the philosopher noted.
He noted that he is not well familiar with the shady schemes that are used to continue importing all that.
“I think it is still imported, but the problem is really serious,” Kurginyan concluded.
