Russian military takes control of Kherson

Russian troops have taken full control of Kherson, the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry reported on March 2.

The Defence Ministry reported that the civil infrastructure, life support facilities for the population and city transport of Kherson were operating normally. In addition, it is stressed that the residents of Kherson have no shortages of food and essential goods.

The Russian command is now negotiating between the administration of the Ukrainian city and the region to maintain the functioning of social infrastructure, law and order and the safety of citizens.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special operation in Donbas. The decision was made after the heads of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics appealed for help.
