Rubbish and nonsense. Head of Collective Security Treaty Organization assesses statements on occupation of Kazakhstan

06.01.2022, Moscow.

Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Stanislav Zas criticized the statements about the occupation of Kazakhstan, RIA Novosti reported on January 6.

“There is some exaggeration about some invasion or something else, even about the ‘occupation’ – this is, excuse me, complete nonsense,” he said.

The head of the organization recalled that the main motive of the CSTO was the desire to help Kazakhstan in a difficult situation.

“It is very unpleasant to hear and read that ‘they took advantage of the situation’ – this is nonsense. I repeat once again, the sincere desire of all our states is to really help Kazakhstan in this difficult situation, to support an ally in this difficult period,” Zas concluded.

Since the first days of the new year, riots broke out in Kazakhstan, which immediately turned into armed clashes. It also became known about the beheading of two law enforcement officers. In connection with the situation, the country’s leadership declared a state of emergency. The head of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomat Tokayev, appealed for help from CSTO member countries.

A curfew is currently in effect in the capital, and the situation is calm. The streets of the capital are empty, there are no people or cars, patrol cars pass through in some places.
