The current Russian state structures were not made to withstand heavy stresses, this needs to be corrected, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on September 20 in a new issue of the original program Destiny on the movement’s YouTube channel.
The events that took place near Kharkov are a painful episode during the special military operation in Ukraine which demonstrated that the current Russian political system was not prepared for extreme pressure, said Kurginyan. He explained that Russian elites were prepared for a friendly relationship with the West, and therefore it started to fail tragically and everywhere under radical anti-Western pressures.
“The system began to fail tragically and everywhere: starting with the media, with the principles that govern the coverage of events in the news, with the systematic approach in specific actions, with errors in the assessment of the enemy’s capability, with errors in the assessment of the West, and much more,” said the analyst. According to him, what happened in Kharkov turned out to be one of such episodes of system’s failure.
It is impossible for a pro-Western system to function in the situation of a complete turnaround towards radical anti-Western position, emphasized the political scientist. “We need to fix the system, while at the same time making sure that it does not collapse overnight,” noted the expert.
In the USSR, Gorbachev’s perestroika and the subsequent chaos were exactly such a collapse of the system, which took place under the pretext of correcting mistakes, noted the philosopher. It would be dangerous to fix the system in Gorbachev’s manner, but it is equally dangerous to continue exposing the system to excessive pressure, added the expert.
Events in the Kharkov region became possible due to a certain state of Russian society, the army, the elites and the political system. “And if the reality remains as such, it will give rise to new unfortunate events again and again,” emphasized Kurginyan.
