Gathering and Teaching. Kurginyan explains what the Russian army lacks

19.09.2022, Aleksandrovskoye.

Russia needs a three million strong army, which should be trained by people who still know what combined arms operations look like, Sergey Kurginyan, a philosopher, political analyst, and leader of the Essence of Time movement, stated in his interview to Belarusian ONT TV channel on September 14.

Kurginyan believes that there is no need to minimize or exaggerate what happened near Kharkov. According to him, we are terribly ashamed before the people in the abandoned territories, we feel terribly sorry for the people. But the main thing now, he is sure, is to identify our own sore spots.

“For example, it was always considered that there would be no big ‘gray’ wars. In some gray zone. It was thought that wars would be either nuclear or local. This notions changed everything – the Academy of the General Staff, education. Everything!” explained the political scientist.

He emphasizes that in this connection modern officers already do not know well enough what is the interaction of different kinds of troops. These gaps, caused among other things by a wrong perception of reality, must be urgently filled.

Kurginyan also expressed confidence that a Russian limited contingent cannot solve problems against a hybrid army, which is already mostly western: with western space-based reconnaissance, with western instructors, with trained western contingents, with western PMCs and, he believes, with the direct involvement of military contingents, not just PMCs.

“We need a three millio-strong professional army (…). We need to gather all the people who still know what combined arms warfare is, and to retrain them, taking into account the modern reality. It is necessary to recruit the structures that have shown themselves most brilliantly in the Ukrainian theater of  operations and give these structures pedagogical and other functions, urgently shaping everything. It is necessary to get away from parade maneuvers at parade training grounds – to work for real. It is necessary to understand that a very powerful enemy is fighting against you!” – said the political analyst.

Kurginyan considers that the main factor of victory is that Russian citizens and its elite realize that the current challenge, as well as more powerful future challenges in confrontation with the West, cannot be overcome unless they begin to create a different reality instead of the reality of the “sleepy consumer” and immobilization.
