Poland's former prime minister: Poles are brought to the verge of despair

06.09.2022, Warsaw.

Ordinary Polish residents and owners of Polish businesses have been brought to the verge of despair by news of an impending 12-15-fold increase in gas prices, former Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on September 3, the TV channel Polsat News informs.

According to him, the “noose” of rising gas prices “is tightened so tightly that in January and February dozens, perhaps hundreds, of Poland’s best factories will stop operating.”

The leader of the Polish opposition party Civic Platform stressed that the actions of the country’s authorities “in recent weeks are beyond imagination.” He explained that the cost of fuel in Poland is already 2.5-3 times higher than in Germany, France, Spain or Portugal, and the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG wants to raise gas prices another 12-15 times.

In this connection, Tusk has already faced an “avalanche of desperate messages,” he noted.
