Political scientist: USA will pay dearly for Pelosi's visit to Taiwan

02.08.2022, Moscow.

We should not expect any drastic and demonstrative steps by China in the near future in connection with Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan, but Beijing’s response will cost Washington dearly in the end. Political scientist Vladimir Dzharalla said this in a commentary for Rossa Primavera News Agency on August 2.

“China has never taken overtly demonstrative steps in acute situations in recent years. Therefore, it is likely to remain silent,” Dzharalla said. According to him, we should not expect any drastic actions from China.

“Later we will see such steps that will demonstrate that this scandal has cost the Americans very dearly,” the political scientist said.

According to the expert, with full confidence, we can talk about the collapse of Washington’s attempts to force China to join the anti-Russian sanctions.

On August 2, a plane with the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi on board landed at an airport in Taiwan, despite China’s categorical protests.
