The modern Western military equipment, which is supplied to the Ukrainian troops, may end up in the hands of the Russian troops, which makes Western politicians doubt the expediency of their supplies to Kiev. Security expert Guillaume Lagane said this, as Atlantico reported on July 12.
The expert notes that Western countries have recently reduced the supply of weapons to Kiev. In his opinion, there are several reasons for that.
Firstly, the equipment, which goes to Ukraine, is modernized before being delivered, and this process takes some time.
Secondly, the supplied weapons are brand new for the Ukrainian army, so they need quite a long training to be able to use the new equipment effectively.
Third, it turned out that during intensive combat operations ammunition reserves for Western equipment run out rather quickly, and it takes longer to replenish them than it takes in the Russian army.
Fourth, Western militaries and Western politicians express concern that the upgraded equipment could become a trophy of Russian troops.
Earlier the press service of Uralvagonzavod stated that they received a CAESAR self-propelled howitzer produced in French, which Paris supplied to Kiev. This news caused a scandal in France. There were calls for French President Emmanuel Macron to resign.
In the morning of February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation to denazify and demilitarize Ukraine. The Russian president said that the special operation was necessary to “protect people who have been subjected to persecution, genocide by the Kiev regime for eight years.” Putin urged the Ukrainian military not to carry out the criminal orders of the Kiev command and to lay down their arms.
Simultaneously with the start of the Russian Armed Forces’ operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, units of the LPR and DPR People’s Militia s began liberating the republics’ constitutional territories from Kiev’s troops.
