Lukashenko: Belarus is preparing to protect Ukraine from annexation by Poland

17.06.2022, Moscow.

Belarus is ready to respond to Poland’s attempt to occupy Western Ukraine, said President Aleksandr Lukashenko on June 17 during the meeting with Belshina JSC employees in the town of Bobruysk, BelTA informs.

“If this happens, we’d have to react. We cannot allow the Poles to surround us. It would be dangerous. I said it before and I’ll say it again: one day, Ukrainians will ask us and the Russians to help them in preserving their territorial integrity. In order not to lose partial control of it,” said Lukashenko.

According to him, Poland seeks to annex Western Ukraine.

The aggressive Polish plans are fueled by the US, who are backing them, believes the Belarusian President. They spend a lot of money, weapons, and even transfer troops in order to confront Russia. “We see it. Therefore, I have to keep our armed forces on high alert both: in the west and in the south. I positioned ten divisions along the border to back our border guards so that they would not advance into Belarus. And they had such thoughts,” stressed Lukashenko.
