Putin congratulates the head of the DPR on Day of Republic

Russian President Vladimir Putin sent his congratulations on the Day of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) to the head of the republic Denis Pushylin. On May 11, the address was published on the Kremlin website.

In his congratulatory address, Putin expressed hope for the friendship between the people of the DPR and brotherly Russia. Putin noted that Russia is now fighting for freedom together with the Donetsk People’s Republic and defends the right of the Republic’s residents to develop their country together with Russia in the future.

“Eight years ago, the people of the DPR made a choice in favor of state independence. Today we are fighting together so that the citizens of the republic could realize their legal right to a free and peaceful life in accordance with their centuries-old cultural and spiritual traditions, in friendship with fraternal Russia,” Vladimir Putin said.

Putin wished the people of the DPR and their fellow citizens courage, fortitude and strength of spirit. He expressed hope that together the republics of Donbass and Russia will be able to withstand the confrontation with the enemy.
