The West proposes legitimized piracy as world order. Opinion

The formula of security based on military and economic power that the leaders of the Western world have proposed is a legitimized piracy, according to an editorial Stakes Are Getting Higher published on May 7 in the Essence of Time newspaper.

The commentary discusses UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss’ proposal to dramatically increase the military aid to Ukraine and to develop a new approach to security.

“We now need a new approach, one that melds hard security and economic security, one that builds stronger global alliances and where free nations are more assertive and self-confident, one that recognizes geopolitics is back,” the UK foreign secretary said.

“The formula of security based on military and economic power is basically a legitimized piracy. ‘Free and democratic’ countries of the West will rob colonies in more traditional ways, as they used to do it long ago. And geopolitics coming back will simply blow up all the post-Yalta global system,” the editorial reads.

On April 28, Truss said that NATO should become a global organization to solve the global problems. She said she was not referring to expansion of the alliance with new members from other regions. “NATO must have a global outlook, ready to tackle global threats,” Truss said.
