Rossa Primavera News Agency publishes a summary of events in Ukraine as of 5 p.m. on April 24.

Russian Defense Ministry:

High-precision ground-launched missiles near Pavlograd destroyed the workshops of an explosives and gunpowder manufacturing facility for the Ukrainian army.

High-precision airborne missiles of the Russian Air Force hit nine military facilities of Ukraine. This included one command post of a Ukrainian army brigade, four strongholds and areas where personnel and military equipment were amassed, as well as four rocket and artillery weapons depots in the areas of Barvenkovo, Novaya Dmitrovka and Ivanovka in Kharkov region.

Operational and tactical aviation and army aviation of the Russian Air Force hit 26 military facilities in Ukraine. Among them, a battalion command and control post and 25 areas of concentration of Ukrainian manpower and military equipment were destroyed. Up to 150 nationalists and up to 40 armored vehicles and vehicles were destroyed.

Rocket troops and artillery carried out 423 firing missions during the night. As a result of the strikes 26 command posts, 367 strongholds and areas of accumulation of manpower and military equipment, and also 25 artillery battery positions were hit. Four missile and artillery weapons and ammunition depots in the districts of Gusarovka and Velikaya Kamyshevakha were destroyed.

Russian air defence assets destroyed 10 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the areas of Barvinok, Vasilievka, Krasnogorovka, Kremennaya, Novy Pervomaysk, Poltavka, Tomarino, Fedorovka and Yasinovatoye.

A total of 141 aircraft, 110 helicopters, 551 unmanned aerial vehicles, 264 surface-to-air missile systems, 2,496 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 282 multiple rocket launchers, 1,093 field artillery and mortar guns, and 2,343 special military vehicles have been destroyed since the start of the special military operation.

Liberation of the LPR and DPR

During the joint operation of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the DPR and the LPR to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine, a group of DPR troops continues to liberate towns and villages in the Donetsk People’s Republic that were previously under the control of the Ukrainian army.

167 towns and villages are currently under the control of the joint forces. Mariupol is under full operational control of the grouping of DPR People’s Militia and Russian Armed Forces troops, the remnants of Nazi paramilitary fighters are hiding in the catacombs of the Azovstal industrial zone.

The Russian Armed Forces liberated the first villages and towns of the Donetsk People’s Republic in the north. Units and formations of the 2nd Army crossed the border of the Kharkov region and liberated the towns of Lozovoye and Redkodub. Combat is already underway near Yampol.

Mariupol

A special police regiment of the Chechen Republic continues to mop up Mariupol from Ukrainian militants. Ramzan Kadyrov, “All the terrorists’ moves are calculated by our soldiers on the spot. They often work on them pre-emptively, as well as blocking the directions of probable retreat, using the factor of surprise.”

During the day on April 24, from 08:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., 149 people, including 23 children, were evacuated from Mariupol to Bezymyonnoye, Novoazovsky district. At present, they are in the evacuation assistance point, which was deployed by the DPR Ministry of Emergency Situations.

Thanks to the efforts of employees of the DPR Ministry of Justice, a civil registry office was opened in Mariupol. Currently, the Registry Office is located on Pisareva Street 28.

The DPR Interior Ministry organized the work of district police departments in Mariupol:

Ilyichevsky District of the Mariupol Police Department of the DPR Interior Ministry: Sartana village, Klubny Lane 8b;

Ordzhonikidzevsky district of Mariupol branch of Mariupol Department of Internal Affairs: Vinogradnoye, Sovetskaya Street 38;

Zhovtnevy district of Mariupol Department of DPR Interior Ministry: Stroiteley Avenue 230 in Mariupol;

Primorsky District of Mariupol Department of Internal Affairs: Gagarina Street 8, Melekino village.

Former employees of the Mariupol Department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine in the Donetsk region (certified and freelance) are required to report to the district police departments for registration, regardless of their intentions to continue their service in the DPR Interior Ministry.

Situation on the territory of LPR and DPR

The enemy opened fire on the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic using 122 mm BM-21 “Grad” multiple rocket launchers, 152 and 122mm barrel artillery, 120 and 82mm mortars. Areas of 11 towns and villages of the republic were hit by the shelling of the Ukrainian army.

Thirty-one households and two civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged. The Ukrainian militants fired a total of 277 rounds of ammunition.

The DPR

As a result of the shelling of the Donetsk People’s Republic by the Ukrainian army, 161 transformer substations and over 4,500 household customers were left with electric power, the DPR Emergencies Ministry reported.

As a result of the shelling of the Kirovsky district of Donetsk by the Ukrainian army, a man was wounded on Kamvolnaya Street.

As a result of the hit of Ukrainian ammunition, the infrastructure supplying the Petrovsky district was damaged. The operation of one of the Phoenix base stations was disrupted, which may result in the degradation of the mobile operator’s signal. There were no wounded or killed.

From the positions of Ukrainian militants in Avdeevka, another 10 rockets BM-21 “Grad” MLRS were fired in the direction of Yasinuvataya. Ordzhonikidze and Oktyabrskaya streets in Yasinovataya came under Ukrainian militants’ fire. Houses and a gas pipeline were damaged.

A resident of Gorlovka was wounded during shelling of Geroyev Perekopa Street from 152mm artillery. He was taken to the hospital, where he is receiving all necessary medical care. As a result of the mortar shelling of Gorlovka, the area of school No. 68 on Novatorov Street was hit. According to the DPR representative at the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination, 16 120mm mortar shells were fired in the direction of the village of Gagarin mine from the positions of the Ukrainian militants.

Liberated territories

In the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic, previously liberated by a group of DPR troops, eight civilians were wounded as a result of Ukrainian army’s shelling. All of them received medical assistance.

The DPR authorities continue to carry out priority activities aimed at restoring the social and humanitarian sphere.

Communications workers inspected base stations and optical communication lines in Illichyovsk district and carried out restoration work in Klenovaya balka in Mariupol.

Payphones with free calls to Russian Federation numbers were installed in Mangush.

Pensions and social benefits were paid in 11 towns and villages. Employees of the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of the DPR received 287 applications for renewal and assignment of payments.

Employees of the Ministry of Health of the DPR continue to receive citizens in the liberated territories. 1,149 patients received qualified medical care. Two people were evacuated to hospitals in Donetsk. There are 53 women on the pregnancy registry.

Rescuers surveyed more than 9 hectares of territories. They found 667 explosive objects. In Mariupol, 11,390 humanitarian kits were distirbuted.

Liquefied gas was delivered to Rovnopol and Andreevka – 24 tanks to each village.

Fifty-four tons of water were delivered and distributed in Mariupol.

More than 5 tons of bread was produced in the liberated territories.

In Mariupol, Sartana, Vinogradnoye, Primorskoye and Zachatovka, an outdoor trade was organized.

Political situation

Iran has opened up its airspace to the Russian military. Planes from Russia will now use Iranian airspace to deliver more military supplies to Syria. The day before, Turkey closed its airspace to Russian civilian and military planes that were heading to Syria.

The EU plans to resume trade talks with India to weaken that country’s ties with Russia. The European Union plans to resume trade talks with India in an effort to give the South Asian country a viable alternative to diversify away from Russia.

In addition to the area of trade, the EU plans a technology council with India, which plans to discuss data protection regulation, social media, and broader digitalization efforts.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro accused Colombian President Iván Duque of intending to attack his neighboring country to destabilize it. Maduro believes that part of the attack must be massive attacks by criminal gangs on the military and government officials.

The Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile could be equipped with several Avangard hypersonic warheads – Russian Strategic Rocket Forces Commander Sergey Karakaev.

The Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile will be able to strike at different trajectories: from both the North and the South Pole of the Earth, Vladimir Degtyar, one of the developers of the Sarmat, has announced.

Russian films about the war in Donbass were banned in Kirgizstan. The authorities of Kirgizstan revoked previously issued distribution certificates and imposed a ban on the screening of the films “Solntsepek”, “Donbass. Okraina” and “Militiawoman”. They motivated this ecision by their neutral position. Nothing is reported about the ban on films like “Callsign Banderas.”

Mercenaries

Lithuanian Povilas Limontas joined the Ukrainian International Legion in early March. The former bartender served about a month and returned to Lithuania on April 7. He did not give a reason for his return, but according to an interview with TIME magazine, the constant exposure to shelling and infrequent sleep did not suit him. Limontas, who served in the army, had only tried to shoot at targets with an AK-47 as part of his combat training, after which he was sent on missions. Here’s how he describes one of them:

“We came in as reinforcements and shot a little bit, but after a while we had to run away, because one thing I learned in Lithuania is that if you’re in a firefight with the Russians, you only have ten minutes before they send in artillery. The fight lasted five or ten minutes, but in my mind, it was like five seconds.”

After returning home, the already former mercenary set himself the task to appear more often in the media and remind people to donate to the army.

US mercenaries in Ukraine are asking for money on Instagram for ammunition and food. The US servicemen complained in a post that the Kiev authorities have abandoned them to their arbitrariness. They stated that there was no large-scale organization in Ukraine.

The US mercenaries said that they have to pay for food and fuel themselves. They are short of everything, including cars and thermal underwear. They are asking subscribers to send money to survive.

Sanctions

Greece is raising the issue of Turkey not joining sanctions against Russia at EU meetings, Ankara knows the reason for such actions.

“We are not being told, ‘Join the sanctions, why don’t you join too.’ There is only Greece and the Greek Cypriot side. They are raising this issue at European Union meetings. The reason is known: the tourists won’t come, the tourists will go to Turkey,” Çavuşoğlu was quoted as saying by Trt.

The accounts of the Russian Consulates General in Houston and New York have been closed by Bank of America, the embassy is practically under a blockade – Russian Ambassador to the United States Antonov.

EU wants to abandon gas imports from Russia by 2027 – Minister of Climate Action and Energy of Austria.

Ukraine

Zelensky named the conditions under which he is ready to receive the US Secretary of State and the head of the Pentagon in Kiev. “You can’t come to us now with empty hands, and we expect not just presents or some cakes, we are waiting for specific things and specific weapons,” Zelensky said, commenting on the upcoming visit of the US Secretary of State and the head of the Pentagon to Kiev. The State Department and the Pentagon declined to comment.

Zelensky’s office advisor Podolyak puts forward another ultimatum to Russia:

  1. Declare a real Easter truce over Mariupol.
  2. Immediately give a humanitarian corridor for civilians.
  3. Agree to a “special round of negotiations” so that we take/exchange the military.

Western countries

The state of West Virginia will send M-113 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine. It is not reported how many armored vehicles will be delivered to Ukraine.

As a member of NATO, Bulgaria officially refused any arms deliveries to Ukraine, despite increasing pressure from European countries. The arms deliveries caused controversy in Sofia among members of the country’s government, which is why the ruling coalition decided to refuse the deliveries. Bulgaria, despite being a well-known producer of Kalashnikov assault rifles and ammunition, has so far supplied only helmets and body armor to Ukraine.

Fuel for Ukraine from Romania goes through the territory of Moldova. Moldova supplies fuel to Ukraine at night.

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder said in an interview with The New Times, “You can’t isolate a country like Russia in the long run, neither politically nor economically. When this war is over, we will have to go back to dealing with Russia. We always do.”

The UK may transfer 20 AS-90 self-propelled 155-mm artillery systems and 45,000 rounds of ammunition to Ukraine – Daily Express.
