Lavrov names a condition for the conflict between Russia and NATO in Ukraine

23.03.2022, Moscow.

The arrival of NATO peacekeepers in Ukraine will lead to clashes with the Russian army, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during a speech at the MGIMO on Wednesday, March 23, RIA Novosti reported.

“If NATO sends its peacekeepers to Ukraine, it will be a direct clash between the armed forces of Russia and the alliance,” the minister stressed.

He thus commented on Poland’s proposal to send peacekeepers to Ukraine.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that at the next NATO summit on March 24 Warsaw is going to propose to send NATO peacekeepers to Ukraine after an official request from Kiev.

“Such a peacekeeping mission would surely bring peace and order to at least a large part of Ukraine,” the politician said.

Earlier, after a personal visit to Kiev, Polish Deputy Prime Minister and head of the ruling Law and Justice party Jarosław Kaczyński made a similar proposal. German authorities reacted sharply negatively to this idea.
