Kurginyan says whether Russia should save the West again

Russia cannot give up its values, but that does not mean it has to save the West. Sergey Kurginyan, a philosopher, political analyst, and leader of the Essence of Time movement, stated this in The Great Game program on Channel One on March 18.

According to one of the program’s participants, Russia must give up its permanent Russian idea of saving the West, since this is no longer possible. In his opinion, the idea that Russia can save the West is an illusion; we must accept the fact that we are different civilizations and live in different civilizational apartments.

There are universal ideas: there are ideas of humanism, there is the idea of the significance of history. Russia, as a Christian country, cannot give up these fundamental ideas, neither as a Christian country, nor as anyone else. But this does not mean that we have to save anyone,” Kurginyan stated.

Discussing the actions of the modern West, which, on the one hand, supplies weapons and money to the nationalist regime in Kiev, on the other, conducts an unprecedented campaign to tarnish Russia in all leading Western media and at the same time is completely deaf to the suffering of the people of Donbass, the program host Vyacheslav Nikonov noted that the values that unite the peoples of Russia, all religious confessions of our country, as it turned out, divide us from the West where the values of Nazism have proved very profound.

In Kurginyan’s opinion, in the Western countries a post-capitalistic, post-Christian civilization has appeared, which has already crushed everything that Christianity and classical capitalism stood for: family, private property and state. This civilization does not assume human development and ascent, but only descent and degradation.
