Russian Air Force destroys S-300 air defense systems division in Ukraine

A division of S-300 surface-to-air missile systems of the Ukrainian army was destroyed by combat aviation of the Russian Air Force, and a total of 46 military targets were hit over the past 24 hours, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing on March 17.

“Operational-tactical, army and unmanned aircraft have hit 46 military targets in Ukraine. Among them: 11 anti-aircraft missile systems, including a S-300 division, one multiple rocket launcher, three command posts, one electronic warfare station, seven ammunition depots and 18 ammunition accumulation sites,” Konashenkov said.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that he had decided to conduct a special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR. The goal of the operation is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian leader stressed that there will be no military occupation of Ukraine.
