Russian troops destroy 128 more military targets in Ukraine over the past 24 hours

Russian troops have hit 128 Ukrainian military infrastructure targets over the past 24 hours, the spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry Major General Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing on March 16.

According to him, the Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile system, one Osa SAM system, four detection and target radar stations, four command posts, seven weapons and ammunition depots, and 68 ammunition storage facilities were destroyed.

In addition, the major general noted that aviation and air defense assets of the Russian air and space forces shot down two Ukrainian Su-25 aircraft near Chernigov, one MiG-29 near Novaya Bykovka, as well as four unmanned aerial vehicles.

In total, since the beginning of the military operation, 111 Ukrainian aircraft, 68 helicopters, 160 drones, 159 anti-aircraft missile systems, 1,353 tanks and other combat armored vehicles, 129 multiple rocket launchers, and 493 field artillery and mortar guns have been destroyed.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for assistance from the heads of the LPR and DPR. The goal of the operation is the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. At the same time, the Russian leader stressed that there is no question of military occupation of Ukraine.
