Progress of the liberation of Ukraine. Rossa Primavera News Agency's report on March 9 (5:00 pm)

Rossa Primavera News Agency publishes a summary of events in Ukraine for March 9 (5:00 p.m.).

A total of 2,581 targets were hit, including:

90 control points and communications node

204 air defense facilities and radar stations

281 tanks

616 armoured vehicles

751 vehicles and special-purpose vehicles

95 items of MLRS

336 pieces of field artillery and mortars

124 aircraft and helicopters

84 unmanned aerial vehicles

The Russian Defense Ministry has published secret documents of the command of the National Guard of Ukraine dated January 22, 2022, which confirm preparations for an offensive operation in Donbass in March 2022.

The document approves the organizational and staff structure of the battalion and tactical group of the 4th operational brigade of the National Guard, the organization of its comprehensive support and re-subordination to the 80th separate Airborne Assault Brigade of the Ukrainian army.

This unit of the Ukrainian Airborne Assault Troops has been trained by US and British instructors under “NATO standard” training programs in Lvov since 2016.

In accordance with the order, the deputy commander of the National Guard was given a task to arrange the battalion and tactical group of the National Guard in the 80th separate air assault brigade of the Ukrainian army from February 7 to 28, 2022.

Kiev direction

Russian sappers in the Chernigov region began humanitarian demining of populated areas. This area of Ukraine came under heavy fire from the nationalist battalions.

Kharkov direction

There was nightly combat near the town of Dergachi (8 km northwest of Kharkov).

In Kharkov, a separate territorial defense nationalist brigade was being created, requiring all persons liable for military service to report to the nearest military enlistment offices.

The ceasefire in Kharkov is used to bring weapons supplied by Western countries, as well as foreign mercenaries, into the city.

Thanks to Russia’s declared “regime of silence” and humanitarian corridors, about 5,000 people and more than 1,000 private cars have left Sumy. Most of the evacuees are women and children.

Russian servicemen distribute food and basic necessities to the population in Chistovodka and other settlements in the Izium district of the Kharkov region.

Southern direction

The head of the local branch of Freedom (organization banned in the Russian Federation) Aleksey Gubsky was killed near Nikolaev.

Mountains of tires appeared on the streets of Nikolaev, installed in accordance with the order of the regional governor.

Skadovsk in the Kherson region was taken under control without a single shot being fired, the Russian Armed Forces control the administration and the local police department.

In Odessa, men attempting to leave the city receive mobilization summonses.

Russian marines near Odessa seize a Ukrainian military rescue vessel and take it to Sevastopol.

Liberation of the LPR and DPR

Russian military forces have created an operational cauldron around the “Lugansk part” of Donbass grouping of the Ukrainian army. Russian troops moved from two sides at once – columns from the Rostov region along the Starobelsk-Svatovo line and a northern grouping coming from Belgorod. They joined up near Kupyansk – about 50-60 thousand servicemen of the Ukrainian army and fighters of the national battalions were taken in the operational cauldron.

The army of the DPR liberated 74 settlements. At the moment, a little more than 50% of the DNR territory has been liberated – Denis Pushilin.

The DPR People’s Militia is completing the mopping up of the city of Volnovakha. Most of the Ukrainian forces have already laid down their weapons, while groups of Ukrainian nationalists continue to resist. Olginka has been liberated and the Zachatovskaya railway station has been taken under control.

In Mariupol, there is no electricity, water or gas, no food delivery, and the situation is very difficult – Denis Pushylin.

Kiev is preparing provocations with the humanitarian corridors in Mariupol and Volnovakha, the exits from the cities may be mined.

In liberated Starobelsk, the Starobelsk district prosecutor’s office of the LPR started its activities.

The situation in the republics

In the DPR, a Tochka U missile was shot down.

Three civilians from the territories previously liberated by the DPR People’s Militia were wounded as a result of the shelling.

Donetsk

The Ukrainian army shelled Donetsk, firing from 120 mm mortars.

In the Petrovsky district a gas pipeline was damaged. The village of Aleksandrovka, the village of Shakhty No. 12 and the village of Briketnyy were left without electricity. In Petrovsky and Kuybyshevsky districts residential houses were damaged.

The LPR

The Ukrainian army shelled the villages of Lozovoye, Logvinovo, Nizhnee Lozovoye with 122 mm artillery and 120 mm mortars. The Ukrainian army fired 40 Grad MLRS rockets towards the village of Molochny.

Political situation

The US is waging a de facto economic war against Russia, the Kremlin said.

Moscow wants to know if dangerous biological substances from laboratories in Ukraine have fallen into the hands of extremists and nationalists, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

Families of the DPR servicemen killed after February 24 will be paid 5 million rubles and those wounded will receive 3 million rubles, according to a decree by the republic’s leader.

The Russian military organized the evacuation of foreigners from the Kherson region of Ukraine. Citizens of Egypt, Azerbaijan, Pakistan, Sweden, Italy, Brazil, India and Morocco were taken to the Crimean town of Armyansk – a total of 248 people, including 38 children. Also, more than 40 citizens of Ukraine arrived by train there.

In Moscow and the Ryazan region, FSB officers detained young men who acted under the guidance of instructors from nationalist battalions. They are suspected of recruiting young people for terrorist activities.

On board a flight between St. Petersburg and Bishkek, one passenger made a bomb threat. According to preliminary information, the passenger is a Russian citizen. He told the crew that he opposed military action in Ukraine and that he had combat ammunition in his hand luggage.

Ukraine

Zelensky threatens Ukrainian politicians who are trying to establish diplomatic contact with Russia and resolve the conflict, “We are getting different signals that some politicians are again looking for ‘strings to Russia.’ If I hear one more signal, the answer will be quick, as it should be in wartime.”

Zelensky signed a law to toughen responsibility for treason (up to life imprisonment) and for looting (from 5 to 10 years of imprisonment).

Zelensky has already survived more than ten attempts on his life – Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office.

Yevgeny Yenin, first deputy head of the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, said that Kiev intends to exploit Russian prisoners of war, “All these people will work later on to restore Ukraine’s economy.”

A ceasefire is declared from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Kiev time).

Western countries

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates refused to talk to Biden about confronting Russia and curbing the rise in oil prices.

The US ban on energy imports from Russia does not apply to uranium.

Erdoğan called the attacks on Russian students and cultural figures in a number of countries over the events in Ukraine a manifestation of fascism.

The US State Department advised US citizens traveling to Ukraine to make a will and submit DNA.

Four Airbus H.145 helicopters purchased by Ukraine for the National Guard are near the Ukrainian border in Romania, with Ukrainian call signs already installed.

Ukrainian An-124-100 flew from the Turkish city of Tekirdag to Poland’s Rzeszow – presumably carrying a new batch of Bayraktars.

The British government will consider donating man-portable air defense systems “Starstreak” to Ukraine, the country’s defense minister said.
