Ukrainian army shells kindergarten and other civilian facilities in Donetsk

A kindergarten and other civilian facilities in Donetsk were damaged as a result of massive shelling by the Ukrainian servicemen, the DPR People’s Militia press service reported on March 6.

As a result of massive Ukrainian army shelling with the usage 120mm mortars, residential buildings in Aleksandrovka settlement at 171 Gorky Street, 163 Shkolnaya Street, and 139 Lenina Street suffered serious damage. In addition, kindergarten No. 35 in Shkolnaya Street was also damaged“, – the report states.

It is noted that three civilians were wounded: two women, 67- and 80-years-old and a 54-years-old man.

The Ukrainian army has been shelling the territory of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics since 2014. In eight years about 14,000 people have been killed in the republics by the Ukrainian fighters.

On February 17, the Ukrainian army significantly increased the intensity of shelling. In addition, Kiev concentrated half of its military forces near the contact line in Donbass. The DPR and LPR announced population evacuation and a general mobilization.

Authorities of the republics of Donbass appealed to Russia for help. On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the start of a special military operation to protect the residents of the DPR and LPR and to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine.
