04.03.2022, Moscow.

Russian troops have foiled an attempt by Ukrainian saboteurs to stage a provocation on the territory of the Zaporozhzhye nuclear power plant, the Russian Defense Ministry’s press service reported on March 4.

According to the ministry’s statement, “around 2 a.m., while patrolling the protected area adjacent to the plant, a mobile National Guard of Russia patrol was attacked by a Ukrainian sabotage group.” They opened a barrage of small arms fire from the windows of a “training complex located outside the power plant.”

Russian servicemen on patrol suppressed the saboteurs’ firing point, but “the Ukrainian saboteur group set the building on fire while leaving it.”

Earlier unverified information about the fire at the Zaporozhzhye nuclear power plant appeared on the Internet. Later, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky claimed that Russian troops bombed the nuclear facility and accused Russia of “nuclear terrorism.”
