The blocking of assets of Russia’s financial institutions abroad undertaken by the EU and the United States is a robbery, economist Vyacheslav Zaychenko said on February 27 in a comment to Rossa Primavera News Agency.
“The West wants to nationalize our money, our property abroad. It was said to take away our accounts, including private ones. This is a real robbery,” the economist said.
According to Zaychenko, if Russia imposes counter-sanctions against the EU and the United States, then they both will have big problems. In particular, the embargo on the export of Russian titanium and nickel will provoke difficulties in the production of semiconductors by Western corporations.
He believes that the more sanctions will be imposed against Russia, the faster the country will reorient itself to the domestic market. “That’s what we should have been doing for the last 30 years,” Zaychenko summed up.
The EU and the United States condemned Russia’s special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. After that, various sanctions were imposed against Russia – both personal and sectoral, including against the national debt and the country’s banking sector. The West continues to threaten Russia with new restrictive measures.
