An order to introduce the special regime of combat duty for the Strategic Deterrence Forces of the Russian Army was given by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 27 during a meeting in the Kremlin with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov.

“Senior officials of the leading NATO countries make aggressive statements about our country, so I order the Minister of Defense and the Chief of the General Staff to introduce the special regime of combat duty for the Deterrence Forces of the Russian Army,” Vladimir Putin said.

The President noted that Western countries are already taking not only economic unfriendly actions against Russia. After that, the order was given.

The strategic deterrence forces are designed to deter aggression against Russia, and include, among other things, nuclear weapons. They include the Strategic Offensive Forces  and the Strategic Defense Forces.
