An agreement has been reached that unites of the Russian Airborne Forces and servicemen of the Ukrainian National Guard will guard together the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, the Russian Defense Ministry said on February 26.
The servicemen will together ensure the security of the power units, the confinement, and the nuclear waste repository. The security of the nuclear power plant will deny Ukrainian nationalists or any other terrorists access to the plant for any provocations with radioactive materials.
The personnel of the nuclear power plant will continue its work to monitor the radioactive situation and maintain the plant according to the routine procedures. The radioactivity level at the plant is normal.
