Russia is losing informational war to the West, and a victory on the battlefield is not sufficient any longer, said political scientist, Americanologist Rafael Ordukhanyan on February 24 in a comment to the Rossa Primavera News Agency.
Commenting USA’s and West’s reaction to the Russian operation in Donbass, Ordukhanyan noted that Russia has a poor information policy.
“What is taking place in Ukraine is an information war in the first place. Such acts of Shoigu’s ministry [Sergey Shoigu is Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation ― Rossa Primavera News Agency] must have an informational support. And this is something we are very, very bad at. Our voices are not heard. I mean our voices in English. We are not in demand. We do not invest in this. This is the problem. A victory on the battlefield is not enough any longer,” the political scientist said.
He also noted that we must work with public opinion, create our own English-speaking radio stations and press agencies to broadcast our position globally. Ordukhanyan stressed that Russia has all the necessary resources, and only political will is needed to do this.
“Unfortunately, we have no global strategic agenda. This is a mistake. This is a strategic, political technological mistake. We are not heard. Only pro-Bandera, pro-Nazi voices are heard along with anti-Russian, Russophobic statements,” he added.
Ordukhanyan reported that he is continuously monitoring English-speaking media, and according to the English-speaking information space, Russia is allegedly deporting Ukrainians from Donbass to Siberia. At the same time, our aid to Donbass is not covered at all.
“No single humanitarian convoy or anything like that has been demonstrated [in the English-speaking information space ― Rossa Primavera News Agency]. No one can see that we accommodate thousands of children and provide them with food and shelter. They believe that we deport poor Ukrainians to Siberia, this is the point. This is absolutely unacceptable. This is a fiasco. This will result in a defeat in the end,” the political scientist said.
