Lukashenko: Ukraine has been warned of a possible Russian special operation

24.02.2022, Minsk.

The military leadership of Ukraine was warned about a possible Russian special operation, but took no action. President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko stated thus at the operational meeting with the military, the agency Belta informed on February 24.

The Belarusian president said that a representative of the military leadership of Ukraine had asked to talk to him tonight before the operation. In response, Lukashenko advised him to immediately contact the Minister of Defense and the General Staff in Russia, so as not to start the operation.

“Did he call there? He didn’t. He, knowing that a conflict could start, did not even call Moscow,” said Lukashenko.

He resented such behavior on the part of the Ukrainian representative and recalled a historical case when the behavior of the Soviet leadership helped prevent a clash between the two countries.

“Listen, there have been cases in history when Khrushchev called Kennedy at night and stopped the thermonuclear war. And here, you see, it was difficult to call, to pick up the phone. Scoundrel!”, commented Lukashenko.
