We must be prepared for the fact that a provocation in Donbass will entail great casualties, military expert and editor of the journal Arsenal of the Fatherland Aleksey Leonkov said in a commentary for Rossa Primavera News Agency on February 11.
“The provocation will most likely be directed in both directions. The Ukrainian side will not even know when it will start. One should be prepared for the fact that the provocation will involve heavy casualties,” Leonkov noted.
The military expert stressed that, unfortunately, everything is heading “toward a major regional war.”
“Even direct contacts between Russian and British foreign ministers are not helping to normalize the situation. As Lavrov said, it was ‘a conversation of the dumb with the deaf’,” Leonkov explained.
According to him, the US and UK have demonstrated their stable position so that it’s clear to everyone that the conflict will take place. At the same time, they emphasize that they do not want to lessen the tension around Ukraine, they continue to increase information hysteria and supply various types of weapons.
“We can talk to them endlessly, but at the same time, their business is clearly aimed at further confrontation, up to and including armed clashes. That is, we can see that weapons are coming to Ukraine, the flow of these weapons does not stop. British special operations forces have arrived in Ukraine, as have representatives of the PMCs. They are not just there for no reason. They will take an active part,” Leonkov explained.
The First Deputy Russian Ambassador to the UN Dmitry Polyansky said that Western countries can prepare a provocation in the Donbass in order to accuse Moscow of invading Ukraine.
