20.01.2022, Moscow.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization invades the territory of sovereign states, threatens their independence and imposes the Western model by force, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said in a speech at the State Duma, the chamber’s website reported on January 20.

“NATO is engaged in infiltrating the geographical spaces of countries under various pretexts and covers, they threaten independent states. Opposing independent democracies, opposing the self-identity of nations, the culture, the traditions of nations – all this is on NATO’s agenda, and it is a deception. Such behavior will eventually lead to their disintegration,” Raisi said.

At the meeting of the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi discussed the development of relations between the parliaments of the two countries, as well as new opportunities for cooperation.

On January 19, Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Russia, and already had a meeting with Vladimir Putin, the leader of the state, which is the first since his election as President of Iran on August 3, 2021.

At the meeting of the two presidents, the Iranian side handed over to Russia a draft treaty on strategic cooperation for twenty years.
