Russian Foreign Ministry: Precise actions of Collective Security Treaty Organization in Kazakhstan irritate the West

11.01.2022, Moscow.

The West is irritated by the successful professional actions of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) forces in Kazakhstan, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on January 11 on the Solovyov Live YouTube channel.

Zakharova noted that the CSTO’s actions cause irritation on the part of the West “for obvious reasons.”

Zakharova said, “I can very well understand the anger and hatred of those in the West who criticize or express their bewilderment with regard to the CSTO actions and the request [for assistance from the CSTO – Rossa Primavera News Agency] from Kazakhstan, considering what they have done to Afghanistan,” the spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry explained.

Zakharova noted that the deployment of CSTO peacekeeping forces on the territory of Kazakhstan was a successful operation, which was able to stop the unfolding bloodshed in the country.

“Do you expect that [the authorities of the Western countries – Rossa Primavera News Agency] rejoice now at how coherently, clearly, within the legal framework, the states that are not part of their blocs acted?” Zakharova added, “Of course, they will not do so – they will do everything possible to pretend that this is not a legal and legitimate story, that Russia is once again the aggressor.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman also accused of incompetence and professional inadequacy those who question the legitimacy of the CSTO, since the provision of military assistance to member countries has been stipulated in the treaty from the very beginning.
