While equipping firing positions near Granitnoye village, Ukrainian punishers were blown up on their own explosive device, the press service of the People’s Militia of the Donetsk People’s Republic (PM DPR) told journalists on January 8.

“Today there was an explosion at the positions of the militants of the 1st Battalion of the 53rd Brigade near Granitnoye village,” the press service of the DPR People’s Militia said. “As a result of the explosion of an unidentified explosive device, three Ukrainian militants were wounded, and one of them later died.”

The PM DPR observers noticed cars arriving at the site of the incident and evacuating the injured. The representative of the PM DPR suggested that the Ukrainian authorities would try to blame the incident on DPR servicemen.

In addition, on January 8, Ivan Filiponenko, a representative of the Donetsk People’s Republic, said that the command of the Ukrainian army intends to inspect one of its brigades on the accusation of theft of fuel and lubricants by the Ukrainian servicemen.
