Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS), expressed the intention to disrupt Germany’s plans aimed at building the Fourth Reich, reports Polish web portal Wirtualna Polska on December 2.
According to the source, the head of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) Jarosław Kaczyński made his statement about Germany at a special meeting of the party’s parliamentary club.
“Germany wants to build the Fourth Reich,” quoted Kaczyński’s words one of party’s deputies. Another deputy confirmed that, indeed, the statement about the Fourth Reich was made in the context of today’s Berlin.
Also, Wojciech Szacki, the head of the political department at Polityka Insight analytic center, spoke about this statement made by Kaczyński, quoting a more detailed version: “Hard times have come for Europeans. Germany has put its cards on the table and wants to build a Fourth Reich. We will not allow this. “
According to the deputy, Kaczyński’s statement received a round of applause. When asked by a journalist if this was a joke, “the deputy from Law and Justice Party (PiS) assured that the party chairman meant exactly what he said.”
This statement was made as a commentary to the existing tensions between Warsaw and European capitals and was perceived by the MPs as an unexpected blow to the current German policy.
The special meeting of the Law and Justice Party (PiS) parliamentary club was announced on Wednesday morning. The deputies received SMS messages which were mentioning that attendance is mandatory and that the party’s chairman will be present at the meeting. The meeting began after 7 pm in the Column Hall at the Polish Sejm (parliament).
