Political scientist: Russia should not underestimate information provocations of the West

26.11.2021, Moscow.

The statements about the preparation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine are a provocation on the part of the West, so far an information provocation, Professor Vitaly Tepikin, an expert of the Association of European Studies under the Russian Academy of Sciences, said to Rossa Primavera News Agency on November 26.

“The Western media is rumoring the drafting of our reservists, that tens of thousands of young soldiers called to arms. This is not the first time we have heard statements about aggression by the Russian side, either potential or pending. But this information is being given very broad coverage and is being rebroadcast en masse, becoming the main news subject in the United States and Western Europe,” says Tepikin.

According to him, people are being stirred up and frightened, they are intensifying anti-Russian sentiments without any reasons. “This is pure provocation – informational, so far. But it will be stronger than the made-up stories about ‘Crimea’. And as if it were not already followed by military provocations. The Russian side needs to be on the alert, I say quite seriously,” said the professor.

Tepikin pointed out that Kiev benefits from making itself look like a victim in this conflict, thus attracting all kinds of help from the West: from military to economic.

Instead of starting to deal with internal problems, Zelensky can only follow US instructions, the professor added.

On November 22, Bloomberg, citing US intelligence sources, reported that Russia could allegedly plan an invasion of Ukraine in early 2022 and conduct it from three directions, including through the territory of Belarus. In addition, Moscow has allegedly called for tens of thousands of reservists on a scale unprecedented for post-Soviet times, the publication reported.
