Refugees on the Belarusian-Polish border
Soldiers of the 61st Independent Infantry Jaeger Brigade (IIGBr), who patrol the border with Belarus, have promised to destroy illegal migrants as soon as they break into the territory of Ukraine. This message was published on the brigade’s Facebook page on November 14.
“We inform you that at the moment, units of the 61st IIGBr are performing their tasks along the section of the state border with Belarus and neither so-called migrants, nor any other persons who may camouflage themselves as migrants, will get into the Ukrainian territory. They will be simply eliminated by our units,” the statement says.
This message goes against the statement of the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov, who assured that Ukrainian border guards will not shoot at migrants in the event of a border breach.
“This is strictly forbidden,” he said.
Also Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, in a conversation with Lithuanian leader Gitanas Nauseda, said that Kiev “will respond adequately to the evolution of the situation.“
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded to the words of the 61st Independent Infantry Jaeger Brigade.
“They have learned well how to eliminate. Their hand is trained. Surely, because Ukraine is not Russia, it is Europe,” Zakharova made a note in her Telegram account.
More than two thousand refugees set up a spontaneous camp near the border of Belarus and Poland, trying to find shelter in Poland. Most of them are Kurds. There are many women and children among them. Belarusian Red Cross Society, Belarusian organizations and enterprises, ordinary citizens help refugees by delivering water, food, clothes, medical and other help.
