Russian military call on the Kurds to restore dialogue with Damascus

09.11.2021, Moscow.

The Russian Centre for reconciliation of opposing sides in the Syrian Arab Republic called on the Kurdish authorities in Syria to resume dialogue with official Damascus on November 8, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

“We call on the self-proclaimed authorities in northeastern Syria to resume dialogue with Damascus on providing assistance to civilians in the territory under their control,” the message reads.

The Center stresses that the so-called “Autonomous Administration of Northeast Syria” supported by the US authorities is not restoring the civilian infrastructure and residential area destroyed during the fighting. Because of this, at least 150,000 people cannot return to their places of residence.

“The most difficult situation is still observed in the al-Haul camp in the eastern province of Hasaka,” the report reads. There is a high mortality rate in the camp due to the spread of coronavirus and the low level of medical care.

Attempts of refugees to leave the camp “are suppressed by force,” the statement reads. On November 8, SANA reported that Kurdish armed formations from the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) stole equipment and rails from At-Tabiya railway station in Deir Ez-Zor province, after which they “fled with the loot to an unknown destination.”
