Lavrov: Western countries seek to undermine UN-centered world order

15.10.2021, Moscow.

US-led countries of the West attempt to undermine the global framework based on the UN Charter and its principles said the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on October 15 at the 7th World Congress of Russian Compatriots Living Abroad, the REGNUM information agency reports.

According to Lavrov, the West continues attempts to substitute the generally recognized customary rules of international law with its mercenary policies. “We see how US-led Western countries attempt to undermine the framework formed after World War Two, the UN-centered global architecture,” the minister stressed.

He mentioned the corrupt methods of his colleagues who use discrimination of Russian compatriots abroad against Russia. Therefore, Lavrov indicated that the Baltic States, Ukraine, and Georgia continue to displace the Russian language from their public life under the guise of the so-called liberal democracy of the West and the bureaucracy of the EU.

Also, the minister reminded that these and many other countries make continuous attempts to rewrite our common history. Many diaspora movement activists suffer violent persecution through administrative mechanisms, censorship, and selective use of the law.

Lavrov expressed confidence that such attempts to split compatriots and diffuse their identity will fail. The foreign minister assured that Russia will continue to offer support and protect the rights of compatriot journalists.
