Russian Foreign Minister: Moscow is not responsible for migration crises caused by the West

15.09.20.21, Dushanbe.

Russia will not share responsibility with Western countries for their actions in the Middle East, which provoked the migration crisis, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, as REGNUM news agency informed on September 15.

Lavrov noted that the problem of illegal migration has become more serious because NATO countries irresponsibly bombed Libya, as a result of which the country has de facto ceased to exist, which caused flooding of Europe with illegal migrants. When the European Union realized that it would be difficult to cope with this on its own, it began to call on everyone to take part in the fate of these migrants.

“We are not going to share the burden of responsibility for something that was not only not supported by us, but was condemned by us,” the minister said.

A joint meeting of foreign ministers, defense ministers and secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) security councils was held in Dushanbe on September 15. The meeting resulted in a joint statement of CSTO member states “On the situation in Afghanistan,” as well as a statement of foreign ministers “On the coordination of joint efforts in the field of information security and combating cyber terrorism”.
