Medvedchuk urges Ukrainians to fight against totalitarian dictatorship in Ukraine

10.09.2021, Kiev.

The leader of the “Opposition Platform for Life” (Russian: OPZZh) Viktor Medvedchuk urged Ukrainians to fight for future, truth, and justice in the country, TASS news agency reported on September 9.

According to Medvedchuk, the current Ukrainian authorities are “forming a totalitarian, dictatorial state system.” Therefore, the political forces operating in the country should not compete, but fight for “the foundation of the state and common principles” of Ukraine’s existence.

“I address every citizen of Ukraine: if you see that your country is dying, fight for the future, for the truth, and for justice,” Medvedchuk said. He also noted that the real meaning of Ukrainian policy has been reduced to making Ukraine anti-Russian by any means, even if this is harmful for the Ukrainian people.

According to Medvedchuk, fighting these authorities should be based not on a “Maidan” and disorders, but on different methods. “Resistance of very Ukrainian citizen but be based not on emotional discontent towards the authorities, but on firm civil position regarding inviolability of the Constitution.”

In May 2021, a treason criminal investigation was opened against Medvedchuk and another OPZZh member Taras Kozak. The politician was almost immediately arrested and placed under house arrest. Moscow believes that the case against the OPZZh leader is politically motivated.
