Putin: USA creates chaos and destabilization, which the whole world will clean up

09.09.2021, Moscow.

The USA is irresponsibly trying to impose alien values on other countries; if the experiment fails, it withdraws from the country, and the international community has to deal with the resulting chaos and destabilization, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a speech at the BRICS summit, the Kremlin press service reported on September 9.

Putin reminded that the situation in the world remains turbulent, moreover, global security is being severely tested again. The degradation of the strategic security system is a cause for concern, as evidenced by new outbreaks of long-standing regional conflicts, including in Afghanistan.

The withdrawal of the US and their allies from Afghanistan has led to a new crisis situation, and it remains unclear how it will affect regional and global security, so it is absolutely right that our countries pay special attention to this issue,” the Russian leader said.

The president noted that Russia and the BRICS stand for the restoration of stability in Afghanistan. He expressed confidence that the country’s residents deserve the right to determine the future of their country. At the same time, Putin stressed that no one is interested in prolonging the terrorist threat, illegal drug trafficking, and the migration problem.

“I have mentioned many times that the current round of the crisis in Afghanistan is a direct consequence of irresponsible extraneous attempts to impose someone else’s values on the country and to build ‘democratic structures’ using socio-political engineering techniques, ignoring the historical and national specifics of other nations and the traditions by which they live. All of that leads to nothing but destabilisation and, ultimately, chaos, after which the masterminds behind these experiments hastily retreat leaving their charges behind. The entire international community then has to face the consequences,” Putin said.

The president expressed his conviction that peaceful development is possible if states with different political and social systems coexist, with mandatory compliance with the principles of international law enshrined in the UN Charter, including non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
