01.09.2021, Minsk.

The USA wants to use the situation in Afghanistan to “escalate the situation in Russia” and China, said President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko, as BelTA informed on September 1.

In his opinion, Washington will aggravate the situation in Russia using Afghanistan, “through Central Asia and China, whose Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region borders with this country [Afghanistan].” Moreover, Lukashenko pointed out that “China is the main enemy for the USA” that is why they will “use from Afghanistan: it’s a convenient place.”

The President of Belarus noted that one should not judge the situation in Afghanistan on the basis of the reports on the TV. “We have to assess the situation in Afghanistan very carefully” and think about how to make it bearable for the Afghans, he said and added that China is also interested in “calm” in Afghanistan.

Lukashenko explained that China’s interests in Afghanistan are in plenty of natural resources, and it will “invest a lot of money to create jobs and to keep it calm and peaceful.”

Deputy state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Vladimir Archakov said that “this whole American thing with Afghanistan … is aimed exclusively at the aggravation of the conflict situation and the problems in this region.” He also expressed the opinion that “the USA and the West are interested in plunging Russia and its allies into the abyss of such low-intensity conflicts [as in Afghanistan], so that they do not interfere with the controlling of the world.”
