Syrian Army fights militants in Deraa overnight

Armed terrorist groups clashed with the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on the night of August 6-7 in Deraa province, a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s in Syria informed.

“There were clashes between the SAA and armed groups in Nawa town in western Deraa,” the source reported. There are casualties among the terrorists, he added.

In the west of the province, government forces attacked the positions of militants in Tafas town and Al-Mozeirib, Al-Yadudah villages using artillery. There are no reports of terrorist casualties.

In northeastern Deraa, militants blocked the international highway near Al-Ghariyah al-Gharbiyah village. The terrorists set fire to tires and hindered the passage of traffic, the agency’s interlocutor added.

On August 6, in Deraa city, a meeting was held between the Russian military and representatives of local clans. At the talks, they discussed the settlement of the situation in the city.

The fighting in Deraa began on August 28 after the militants attacked the Syrian army posts and captured 26 SAA soldiers. On August 30, after Russia’s intervention, a ceasefire was imposed in the region.
