The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) seized Islamist headquarters in the Syrian Raqqa province, a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s reporter in Syria informs on July 7.

“The SAA forces and its allies have liberated al-Umur and al-Bishri mountains in southeastern Raqqa and stormed a number of ISIL (organization banned in Russia) headquarters in the Syrian desert,” the source said.

The government army confiscated weapons from the captured headquarters. “The battle will continue until all the land in the Syrian desert is cleared [of terrorists],” the source said.

A military operation is underway in the Syrian desert to eliminate underground cells of ISIL (organization banned in Russia). The operation involves forces of the Syrian army, armed formations allied to the government, and aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

According to intermediate results announced by the Russian Defense Ministry in May, 338 Islamists were eliminated, and about 100 buildings, including caves and hiding places were destroyed in the Syrian desert.
