DPR head accuses Kiev of persistent escalating the conflict towards hot phase

27.06.2021, Donetsk.

The Donbass conflict is being persistently pushed by Kiev into the hot phase, DPR head Denis Pushilin said while commenting on today’s shelling of Gorlovka by Ukrainian forces, the REGNUM News Agency reported on June 27.

The Ukrainian side continues to push the conflict persistently into a hot phase. Only yesterday, the Ukrainian army fired more than 50 shells of various caliber on the Donetsk and Mariupol directions. The DPR People’s Militia returned fire in order to protect the population of the Republic and prevent further shelling by Ukraine,” said Pushilin.

After Kiev completely ignored appeals to the Joint Centre for Ceasefire Control and Coordination from Donetsk, which demanded to stop shelling of Gorlovka and to stop violating the ceasefire, the DPR authorities decided to suppress the Ukrainian forces’ firing point.

Also, Pushilin said that the DPR People’s Militia has the right to use all necessary means to protect its citizens.

We have repeatedly proved the defensive capacity of the Republic, which is eloquently demonstrated by the Ukrainian army thousands of servicemen losses… For each killed DPR serviceman, for each wounded civilian the Ukrainian side is fully responsible and will remain responsible in the future,” said the DPR head.

On June 27, a woman was wounded as a result of Gorlovka shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces. Darya Morozova, the DPR Commissioner for Human Rights, stated that during the entire conflict in Donbass, about 8 000 DPR residents were wounded in varying severity due to shelling by Ukrainian armed formations.
