Syrian army eliminates more than 80 terrorists in the desert

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) recently eliminated over 80 militants of the ISIL terrorist group (organization banned in Russia) in the desert region, a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s source in Syria informed on June 21.

Recently, the government forces eliminated more than 80 Islamist fighters in the area of the Syrian desert, the source informed. In addition, their positions and vehicles were destroyed.

“The SAA destroyed 23 four-wheel drive vehicles and more than 50 positions of ISIL terrorist group (organization banned in Russia) in the eastern village of Afriya in Hama province, in the Al-Rusafa desert area in southern Raqqa and in the Al-Sukhnah desert area in eastern Homs,” the source said.

There is no information about the losses of the government forces.

Military operation is underway in the Syrian desert to eliminate sleeping cells of ISIL (organization banned in Russia). The operation involves forces of the Syrian army, allied government armed formations, and Russian Air Force aviation.

According to intermediate results announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense in May, 338 ISIL terrorists (organization banned in Russia) were eliminated, and about 100 buildings, including caves and hiding places, were destroyed in the Syrian desert.
