Syrian army eliminates a group of Islamists in the desert

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) eliminated a group of 14 ISIL militants (organization banned in Russia) on June 20 during the fighting in the desert, a Rossa Primavera News Agency’s source in Syria informed.

“14 ISIL militants (organization banned in Russia) were killed by the fire of the SAA and allied Liwa Al-Quds forces while combing caves in the Syrian desert,” the source informed.

A military operation is underway in the Syrian desert to eliminate underground cells of ISIL (organization banned in Russia). The operation involves the forces of the Syrian army, allied government armed formations, and the aviation of the Russian Air Force.

According to interim results of the combat operations, announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense in May, 338 ISIL terrorists (organization banned in Russia) were eliminated and about 100 buildings, including caves and hiding places, were destroyed in the Syrian desert.
