Kurginyan explains why the US Democratic Party will never loosen its grip on Ukraine

Ukraine must be separated from Russia by any means is an opinion fostered by Zbigniew Brzezinski, and deeply rooted in the Democratic Party, said political analyst, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on June 4 on the Topic program on the Donetsk Union TV channel.

It is very unlikely that the talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the US President Joseph Biden will help normalize the situation in eastern Ukraine, noted Sergey Kurginyan.

“Perhaps, certain arguments may convince Biden to somehow soften his grip on Ukraine and start doing something about the Ukrainian leadership. But, first of all, the Ukrainian leadership has some kind of internal quality that also hinders them from constantly moving in the right direction,” suggested the political scientist.

Secondly, it is very doubtful that “the US will soften its grip on Ukraine as a concession to Russia,” and the key reason here is in the deep fear that exists among the “US Democratic political elites” towards the unity between the two sister nations.

“It is a strange position to take, and I have seen it for decades. In essence, it is Brzezinski’s position that any increase in Russia’s influence in Ukraine means the restoration of the empire. And that this is the worst thing that can happen,” stressed the expert.

According to the political scientist, in addition to Brzezinski’s point of view, there was another political figure in the US, his name is Henry Kissinger, who had another point of view, and a softer approach to such an alliance. He did not attribute a great importance to the Ukrainian factor’s influence on Russia’s imperial ambitions in the post-Soviet space.

“This factor had a great importance to Brzezinski. However, what about the US Democratic Party? It is Brzezinski’s territory, and these are his pupils. Why in the world would it suddenly begin to change its eternal course in Ukraine, its constant course in the last thirty years?” Kurginyan noted.

In his book The Grand Chessboard (1997), Zbigniew Brzezinski, political scientist, National Security Advisor to 39th US President Jimmy Carter paid significant attention to Ukraine’s influence on Russia. In particular, he wrote that if Moscow regains control over Ukraine with its 52 million population, natural resources and access to the Black Sea, then Russia will automatically return to being an empire – a powerful geopolitical adversary to the US.
