Kurginyan: Biden administration is very “gift-susceptible”

08.06.2021, Moscow.

The administration of the new US president Joe Biden is ready to change its policy for “gifts” it receives, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on June 4 on the air of the Topic program on the Union channel.

“From my point of view, the current administration is most susceptible to gifts ― you see how delicately I am wording this,” Kurginyan said.

According to the political scientist, although ex-president Donald Trump’s administration made minor variations to its policy, the situation changed after Biden came.

“With Biden it turned out to be the weak point. When someone comes to his office, well, not with a bribe but offering some sort of gifts, he says, ‘Okay, what should I sign?’ ― ‘This.’ Another person comes, ‘What should I sign?’ ― ‘This.’ This is the way he exists,” Kurginyan said.

The leader of the Essence of Time movement indicated that this feature of Biden’s policy is now clearly seen in Ukraine.

“It is a matter of wide discussion today who lobbied Nord Stream 2, and how this was done, and how these people relate with Biden. Therefore, there is some hope that this gift-susceptibility will overcome a certain furious confrontational posture. But I think that this is a very weak hope,” the political scientist added.

At the St. Petersburg Economic Forum, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin said that the first line of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline has been completed.

Also, on May 20 the US authorities said they would refrain from imposing sanctions against Nord Stream 2 AG, the company developing the Nord Stream 2 Russian gas pipeline.

However, the US imposed sanctions on Russian organizations “Marine Rescue Service,” Mortransservice, “Samara Heat and Energy Asset Foundation,” Koksokhimtrans, and 13 ships involved in the Nord Stream 2 project.
